Visitors are often surprised when they find out that most of the city’s stores are closed on Sundays. But who wouldn’t want to live the French way of life? If you are an early riser, why not enjoy a nice petit-déjeuner (meaning, a couple of croissants and a cup of coffee) before you venture on your shopping trip…
Understanding the Parisian stores' opening times
When do Parisian stores open?
Every store is different, but they all manage to agree on similar opening hours:
Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 7pm.
If you go between these hours, you’ll have a good chance to find an open door.
Do they close on certain days?
Sundays are tricky, because most stores are closed. However, the ones located in the Marais district or on the Champs-Elysées avenue generally are open on Sundays.
Beware of Mondays! Small or independent stores opening on Saturdays can decide to close or open later on Mondays.
Jules&Julie’s advice: even if the shops are closed, you can enjoy your week-end by discovering one of Paris’ flea markets, such as the Puces de Saint-Ouen and the Puces de Vanves. Our best bet would be to go early on a Sunday morning to score the greatest deals!
